Gilbert Arizona Temple

Gilbert is home to the very first LDS temple announced for construction by President Thomas S. Monson.  As the 4th temple in Arizona and 142nd operating temple for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this majestic building sits on approximately 15 acres full of palm trees and agave plants in abundance. It was dedicated on March 2nd, 2014 by President Monson. The Gilbert Arizona Temple is over 85,000 square feet  and almost 200 feet tall! The Gilbert skyline was forever changed with the construction of this temple. Over 400,000 spectators attended the open house.

The night before the dedication, over 12,000 youth unified as one in the cultural celebration story line of Old Testament, Book of Mormon, and Arizona church history events. Brewing storm clouds convened upon the celebration that night and, in answer to many prayers of relief from the drought, the Lord opened the windows of heaven and the rains fell. President Eyring told the youth it would be a night they would never forget!
